RFP: Bridge Superstructure Tolerance to Total and Differential Foundation Movements

TRB’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) has issued a request for proposals to develop procedures to (1) determine the acceptable levels of bridge foundation movements based upon superstructure tolerance to total and differential movements considering service and strength limit states, and (2) propose revisions to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Load Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Design Specifications. Proposals are due June 11, 2013.

A request for proposals for this project (NCHRP Project 12-103) was originally released on October 24, 2011, as NCHRP Project 24-38: Development of Bridge Foundation Movement Criteria. The purpose of the new Research Project Statement is to initiate a new competition for this project. The Research Project Statement has been slightly modified from the original statement to clarify the research objective and product. This solicitation is open to all proposers, including any agencies that responded to the earlier Research Project Statement.
