The Ohio DOT’s Office of Statewide Planning & Research in coordination with the Ohio LTAP Center are pleased to offer the following Research Results Presentation:

Project Title:  Evaluation of the Viking-Cives TowPlow for Winter Maintenance
Researcher:  Dr. William Schneider, Ph.D., University of Akron
Date: January 16, 2015
Time: 9:00-10:30 AM (ET)
Location: Room 1C – ODOT Central Office (Columbus, OH) or via Webinar

Project Summary
In the current economic climate, it is imperative to maximize efficiency while minimizing costs. As a result, ODOT is evaluating new methods to reduce expenditures in their winter maintenance budget. One such evaluation is of the Viking-Cives TowPlow, a trailer unit towed behind a standard truck that is capable of plowing and applying material over two lanes in a single pass. A comprehensive evaluation of the TowPlow was conducted to determine the feasibility for implementation, which includes the impact on level of service (LOS) and utilization of the equipment.
