Program Summary
Advanced Chemical Technologies Deck-Sil is a unique concrete infrastructure sealing system comprised of two well-proven product technologies. These two technologies applied as a system provide a true dual layer of protection.
With a single surface preparation and lane closure, a 100% silane penetrating sealer is applied to the concrete surface, followed by a flood coat of epoxy healer/sealer. This dual application drives the silane up to ¾ of an inch of penetration and seals the cracks, thus protecting the concrete from deicing salts, water and other water borne contaminants.

Detailed Description of Program
Describe your product/technology:
Advanced Chemical Technologies Deck-Sil is a unique concrete infrastructure sealing system comprised of two well-proven product technologies. These two technologies applied as a system provide a true dual layer of protection.
With a single surface preparation and lane closure, a 100% silane penetrating sealer is applied to the concrete surface, followed by a flood coat of epoxy healer/sealer. This dual application drives the silane up to ¾ of an inch of penetration and seals the cracks, thus protecting the concrete from deicing salts, water and other water borne contaminants.
Why is it innovative?
Silane penetrating sealers and epoxy healer/sealers have long been used on bridges to extend their service life. Advanced Chemical Technologies has taken these two standard “tool box” products and has proven that together they provide superior concrete protection. Typical silane penetration is up to ¼ inch, with the Deck-Sil system silane penetration is now ¾ of an inch! This superior penetration provides longer rebar protection, while the Epoxy healer/sealer penetrates the cracks in the concrete thus providing a true Beit and suspenders approach. A single surface preparation for this system reduces the cost of the rehabilitation while extending the service life of the structure.
What would a field demonstration entail?
Surface preparation, shot blasting, followed by the application of the Silane with a spray bar. Immediately upon the silane penetrating the concrete the Epoxy healer/sealer is applied. This system is perfect for local crews to apply and adds years to the service life of the bridge deck.
