ITD Program: Transparent Stay-in-Place Forms –

Description of Demonstration:

While stay-in-place forms have been used to improve productivity for bridge deck construction for nearly 50 years in the United States, the primary disadvantage is the inability to inspect the bottom of the deck. Inspection is important during the deck pour for quality assurance, but also for routine and element level inspections over time in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards. Transparent Stay-In-Place Forms (TSIPFs) improve safety and speed of construction without sacrificing inspection. This is beneficial in helping bridge owners preserve the deck and protect the underlying elements, extending the service life of the entire bridge.
